Normality short trick

ü Normality: W/1/m/x

Whereas, w=weight of solute M=molecular weight

X=valency

ü If a solution (V1) of normality (N1) is diluted to another solution of volume (V2) than normality will change to N2 and will be given as:

N1V1=N2V2

Same with molarity

ü Take a reaction is involving ‘n1’ no. of moles having molarity M1 of volume V1 and reacting with the reactant of concentration M2 involving no. Of moles ‘n2’ having volume V2 will be expressed as :

o M1V1/n1=M2V2/n2

Normality can be written as:

N=M*x

x=Acidity or Basicity

PPM: Mass of solute/ Total Mass of solution *10^6

PPM is generally used when solution is very dilute and represented in mass by parts of solute equals to millions parts of solution.

Question: If density of 2M solution is 1.25 gm/cm3.Find out the mass percent and molality.
